Downloads are not saving
The cause differs by symptom. Start with whichever is closest to yours.
No save button or preview window appears
The app looks for videos and images in the page and only offers to save when it finds one. It can miss them in these cases:
- The page has not finished loading — wait until it settles, then play the video once
- The page needs an account or a login — open it again while signed in
- The video is embedded in an unusual way — some sites cannot be detected
To check whether the app itself is working, use the check pages. If a test video will not save either, the problem is in the app; if it saves fine, the problem is in the page you were viewing.
Tapping a link opens a different app
Links — especially from search results — sometimes open another app instead of the browser inside the app. This comes from how iOS handles such links, and I keep improving it.
In the meantime, any of these work around it:
- Long-press the link and choose Open from the menu
- Tap Bookmarks at the bottom, then the Sites tab, and pick the site there
- Type the address into the URL field directly
It starts but stalls or fails
- Check the free space on your device — downloads fail part-way when it runs out
- An unstable connection can interrupt them. Try somewhere with good Wi-Fi
- A failure can leave an empty folder behind. The bug where those could not be deleted is fixed — please update to the latest version
It saved, but I cannot send it to the Photos app
If "Save Image" or "Save Video" does not appear in the share sheet, or nothing happens when you tap it, the file may be in a format the Photos app does not accept, such as WebP — some sites serve images that way.
This is fixed: formats the Photos app cannot handle are now converted to JPEG or PNG when sharing (the original stays untouched inside the app). Please update to the latest version.
Saving could also fail for PNG and JPEG — formats the Photos app does accept. That was a separate bug, unrelated to the file format, and it is fixed in iDig 11.12 (released 4 September 2026). Please update first even if the format does not look like the cause.
Is there a daily limit on saving?
No. There used to be a daily limit for free users, but it has been removed. You can save as much as you like (see Ads and Premium).
If none of this helps
Write to me from Settings → About this app → Email a bug or request. Telling me which site, and which video or image it happens with makes this far quicker to look into. If the app will not open, use the contact form.
