Saved data is missing

1. Check these first

Is a filter or sort order hiding it?

Sometimes the data is still there and simply is not showing. Check the folder sort setting, and the image size filter in iDig. If you moved it into a binder (a folder inside a folder), it is one level down.

Look directly in the Files app

The apps expose their storage to the Files app. Open Files → On My iPhone → the app's name to see exactly what is still there. This works even when the app itself will not start. If your files are listed there, the data is safe and the problem is only in how the app displays it.

2. What to do, case by case

It disappeared after switching phones

Depending on how you transferred your iPhone, app data does not always come across. If you still have the old device, you can copy the files across yourself. On the old phone open Files → On My iPhone → the app's name, copy the folders somewhere else (iCloud Drive or a computer), then bring them into the new phone.

If the old device is gone and no backup restores it, there is unfortunately no way to get the files back. Everything you save stays on your own device — none of it is stored on my servers.

I deleted the app and installed it again

On iOS, deleting an app deletes its data with it, and reinstalling does not bring it back. Please avoid deleting the app when something goes wrong.

The one remaining possibility is a device backup taken before you deleted the app. Saved data is included in iCloud and computer backups, so if a backup predates the deletion, restoring your iPhone from it can bring the files back too. You can check the date under Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup. Note that this rolls the whole iPhone back to that point: photos, messages and anything else created since then are lost. Check the date and weigh what you would regain against what you would lose before deciding.

An empty folder is all that is left

When a download fails part-way, a folder can be created without any contents. The bug where such leftover folders could not be deleted is fixed. Check the release notes and update to the latest version.

Documents & Data stays large after deleting saved files

The Documents & Data number shown under Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage → iCap can include more than the files visible in the Files app. Browser website data and working data used during downloads or conversions can also live in the app's storage area.

iCap has two different cleanup controls. Settings → Cache/Cookie/History → Delete all cache removes browser cookies, cache and history, while Settings → Reset → Check and delete temporary files shows and removes temporary working files used by conversions and similar operations. The browser cleanup signs you out of websites where you were logged in.

Next, if iOS or iPadOS shows Downloaded Videos (sometimes shown as Review Downloaded Videos) under Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage, open it as well. Videos that you already removed inside iCap can still appear there as iCap items in the system storage manager. In September 2026 I confirmed a real-device report where removing those unneeded iCap entries reduced the app's Documents & Data size.

In Downloaded Videos, remove only iCap items that you are sure you no longer need. Do not remove videos you still want to keep. This section may not appear on every device or OS version.

If you have checked the items above, and Files → On My iPhone/iPad → iCap contains no large videos or folders, but Documents & Data is still several GB, do not delete the app just to reclaim the space before checking that nothing important remains. Offload App also keeps Documents & Data, so it will not release the large amount shown there.

In that state, please contact support from Settings → About this app → Email a bug or request and attach a screenshot that shows the Documents & Data size. If possible, also say what you were doing just before it grew (a normal download, HLS download, MP4 conversion, failed download, and so on). This lets me distinguish which kind of app data is occupying the space without asking you to delete unrelated data.

All my bookmarks are gone

The browser's bookmarks are stored as a file named "bookmark.json" in Files → On My iPhone → the app's name. If this file is deleted in the Files app, or the app's Documents & Data are removed from Settings → General → iPhone Storage, the bookmarks become empty.

If you deleted it in the Files app, check Browse → Recently Deleted: if "bookmark.json" is there, tap Recover to bring it back (within about 30 days). If you reinstalled the app, as in "I deleted the app and installed it again" above, the only way back is a backup. When tidying folders in the Files app, please leave "bookmark.json" in place.

If what you can't find is the button that opens bookmarks rather than the data, look for the bookmark-shaped icon among the browser's buttons.

I deleted it inside the app by mistake

There is no trash can in the app, so deleted items cannot be recovered. Deleting a folder asks for confirmation to prevent mistakes, but for anything important I recommend copying it out through the Files app.
